Heather Luckhart Presents Jazz Goes Blue – Oct 16
On Thursday, October 16, powerhouse vocalist Heather Luckhart returns to her jazz roots for a first of it’s kind show at Function Bar & Kitchen in Midtown Toronto. Known for her acclaimed blues performances, Luckhart will bring the grit and soul of the blues into dialogue with the elegance and improvisation of jazz in an evening aptly titled Jazz Goes Blue.
She’ll be joined by the incomparable Michael Shand, one of Canada’s most sought-after pianists, whose expressive and masterful playing adds depth to every performance. Also on the roster is Matías Recharte — a Lima-born drummer steeped in Afro-Peruvian, Afro-Cuban and South Indian traditions. Together, they promise an unforgettable night of genre-bending music, all tethered to the heart of jazz.

Renowned pianist Michael Shand has worked with some of Canada’s top artists, known for his expressive touch and versatility. His masterful playing brings depth and colour to Luckhart’s new Jazz Goes Blue debut.
With Drummer Matías Recharte
Also on the roster is Matías Recharte, a Lima-born drummer and percussionist steeped in Afro-Peruvian and Afro-Cuban traditions, who also studies South Indian percussion and works regularly with Latin and jazz ensembles in Toronto. Having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Latin drum set and percussion from the Rotterdam Conservatorium and a Master’s in ethnomusicology, he continues to teach and perform widely.
